Mark Thompson is Chief Executive Officer, President, and a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Boston Private Bank & Trust Company. The bank provides personal, commercial, and investment management and trust services to individuals, families, and businesses. Under Mr. Thompson’s leadership, the bank has grown from $100 million in banking assets to include ten locations with over $2.5 billion in banking assets and in assets under management.

Mr. Thompson joined the bank in 1994 and served as Executive Vice President and Treasurer from 1994-2001, President from 2001-2003 and Chief Executive Officer from 2003 to the present. Prior to joining Boston Private Bank & Trust, Mr. Thompson was an Executive Vice President and founding officer of Wainwright Bank & Trust Company and held various leadership positions at Boston Safe Deposit & Trust Company.

Mr. Thompson is very active with several charitable organizations and business associations, including: the North Shore Association of Retarded Citizens, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Casa Esperanza, Mass Insight Global 2015 Committee, Greater Boston Chamber Transportation Committee, Windrush Farm Therapeutic Equitation, Norwich University Alumni, World Affairs Council of Boston, Treasurer’s Club of Boston, and the Massachusetts Government Land Bank Investment Committee. Mr. Thompson has been named one of the Top 100 Business Leaders in Boston by Banker and Tradesman.

Mr. Thompson received his BS in Business Administration, Cum Laude, from Norwich University and his MBA, Magna Cum Laude, from Clarkson University School of Management.
