Robert C. Buffum is Senior Vice President and Chief Risk Officer of Boston Private Bank & Trust Company, and a member of the Bank’s Policy Group.

Mr. Buffum joined Boston Private Bank in 1977 as a commercial lender, bringing 20 years of experience in middle market business banking, commercial real estate lending, credit administration and asset management. Mr. Buffum was promoted to Chief Credit Officer in 2001, responsible for establishing and maintaining the strong credit principals of the organization. In 2006, he assumed the role of Chief Risk Officer, expanding his responsibilities to include Residential Mortgage Underwriting, Compliance, the Financial Intelligence Unit and the Fraud team. 

Mr. Buffum is a graduate of Trinity College, Hartford with a BA in Economics, and received his MBA from Bryant University.
